Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is a topic that often makes some patients anxious. At K.C. Sykora DDS – Family and Implant Dentistry, we can help you get the care you need in a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere. We use local anesthetics to eliminate pain, as well as other comfort amenities to help you feel at ease. Our oral surgeons offer a variety of surgical dentistry services to help you improve your oral health and appearance. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions you may have.

Bone Grafting

We can perform this procedure for patients needing additional bone mass for dental implant placement. Dental implants require a certain amount of bone structure to be available. Because the implant fuses to the bone to create a permanent foundation for the restoration, it is important that the bone be healthy and strong. We can build up bone mass in the areas necessary to provide support for the implants. You can learn more about our dental implant services.

Tooth Extractions

Need to have a tooth removed? We can help. Although we do try to save the tooth if possible, we can comfortably remove teeth that cannot be repaired. We use specialized tools to gently loosen and remove problem teeth when necessary. This procedure is quick, painless (due to our use of a local anesthetic), and can help you work toward the smile you want. For wisdom teeth removals, we may refer you out to a trusted specialist.

Root Canals

[insert_video vid_id=”rwrO5vnk6RQ” align=”right” width=”50%” thumb_reso=”maxresdefault” transcript=”A root canal is a procedure that’s done when the nerve tissues and the blood vessel tissues down inside the tooth have either come under attack from decay or trauma where the nerve tissue inside the tooth which helped to make the tooth but in an adult only serves as a protective signal device that says; ‘Hey, there’s a problem here, get something done.’ The tooth, sometimes that has to come and the tooth can still be saved and it’s a procedure that’s changed dramatically in my years as a dentist. All the procedures that I do in a dental office, I think it’s root canal procedures that have change the most during my career. The beginning point is the same, the end point is the same, but how we do it in the middle has changed dramatically. I can remember years ago when it took 2 or 3 visits to finish a root canal and it’s extremely unusual these days to not finish it in one visit. Which is great for the patients and great for the office. The tooling has changed dramatically, to make it easier, faster, cleaner, more predictable. People just rarely have issues after root canals anymore and I’m really happy about that.”]The term “root canal” often induces a sense of fear or anxiety in some patients. However, modern tools and techniques allow root canal treatment to be quite simple and painless. Believe us, it’s the truth! Before we begin, we use a local anesthetic to numb the area. We have an instrument called the DentalVibe to help reduce discomfort from the injection. We then use a modern rotary file system to access the dental pulp. We then remove the infected pulp and repair the tooth with the newest type of sealer called bioceramic sealer. The tooth is now no longer able to feel pain and is protected from future infection. This process is routine, very safe, and can help you feel better quickly.
